Latest Additions!

12 November 2002 - RGL Codec Now Available
  • A member of the Vovida community has contributed a G.711 lossless compression codec, the Ramalho G.711 Lossless Compression (RGL) codec. The RGL codec obtains significant lossless compression of speech/audio ITU-T G.711 packet payloads (µ-law or A-law) with trivial complexity and virtually no delay. The real-time QoS media bandwidth saved via RGL compression can be used by other elastic transport applications (e.g., web traffic over TCP) with no fidelity loss to the G.711 media stream.

18 September 2002 - Secure RTP Now Available
  • A member of the Vovida community has contributed an open source implementation of Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP) called libSRTP. The protocol, SRTP, provides confidentiality, message authentication, and replay protection for RTP. This implementation, libSRTP, provides the opportunity for developers to add Secure RTP functionality to their VoIP applications.

1 August 2002 - Testing Results on Nexcom Server Available

17 July 2002 - Load Balancer Proxy Available
  • Cathay Networks has contributed a Load Balancer Proxy, which is a simple proxy that enables system administrators to balance the inbound traffic over several ingress Marshal servers based on the real-time demand for service.

17 July 2002 - Public STUN Servers Available on Vovida.org
  • We have two STUN (Simple Traversal UDP (User Datagram Protocol) through NATs (Network Address Translation)) Servers running the code contributed by Jasomi Networks. As long as this does not become too difficult to manage, we hope to keep these running on Vovida.org for the benefit of the community. [ more ]
